Christmas celebrations will not be over until hundreds take a dive into the chilly Mediterranean waters in aid of the Thomas Smith Christmas Charity Swim.
With 20 previous editions under their belt and a total €120,000 donations collected, Thomas Smith are thrilled to announce that the swimming event is back for its 21st episode on Sunday 29th December 2019.
Held under the patronage of the Office of the President, this year’s event will welcome H.E. The President George Vella to join the crowd for the first time as Malta’s Head of State. The pier under Independence Garden in Sliema will be bursting with participants and cheerful supporters on the day, awaiting the President’s ribbon-cutting, inaugurating another charitable edition and kicking-off the official swimming session.
100% of the donations collected are contributed to the Malta Community Chest Fund, a charitable foundation which provides financial, material and professional support to patients and their families going through difficulties following chronic illnesses. Thomas Smith’s management encourage participants to increase their donations by seeking financial support from relatives, friends and colleagues. Whilst no expense is spared to organise an event to remember, all marketing and logistical financial support required for the event is contributed by Thomas Smith themselves. Together with donations collected on the Charity Swim day, Thomas Smith’s management always top up the final amount with a generous contribution on behalf of the company.
On 29th December, participants are invited to head to Sliema at 09:30 to register at the desk along the promenade, warm up for the swim and socialise with other enthusiastic participants. Registration forms for adults and children can be downloaded and filled in beforehand. Food and beverage refreshments will be offered to the participants following the swim.
